My wife and I hit up Panama last year, and I’ve been hooked on fishing since I was a kid - my dad taught me the ropes. She’s not into it at all, though, just not her thing, you know? So stumbling across TrophyFishing was a total game-changer. At first, I figured I’d just rent a boat from some locals, but then I found their site online and saw they’ve got their own island and hotel! Talk about convenient. While I was out chasing fish, my wife was living it up with massages, the pool, and island strolls. Fingers crossed we can make it back next year!
Solid service, I was pretty stoked with it. What really stood out was the top-notch gear and the local guides, those guys know the best fishing spots and the seafloor like the back of their hand. Oh, and heads-up: if you set it up ahead of time, they can even pick you up on the mainland and ferry you to the island, no need to hassle with hiring a boat from random locals.
I’ve never been a pro fisherman or anything - just went with the family for a chill stay at a resort on Isla Parida and thought I’d give it a shot. Was curious if I’d snag anything or just flail around. I was dreaming of a massive marlin, like those YouTube vids, but I was stoked to land a tuna instead. Turns out it’s way tougher than it looks! You’re out there with a pro angler who’s all in, loves the gig, knows the hot & fishy locations, and by the end of three days, Manny (our guide) felt like a family member). The hotel on the island’s super handy too. Definitely coming back next year.
I am a rare and endangered creature - a female angler. My husband and I were there in May 2024, we booked a 3-day tour and were very satisfied. I am especially pleased that you do not need to book accommodation separately, and after all you are taken to a hotel on a private island. Good equipment, a small motor yacht, I highly recommend!
There are many lakes in the southern United States, I have been interested in fishing since childhood. Before this vacation, my friends and I had already rented boats from locals twice, and every time we were not entirely satisfied. Something was always missing, the equipment leaves much to be desired (and carrying all the equipment with you on the plane is VERY inconvenient), plus it is inconvenient to rent a boat and housing separately. This time we decided to change our approach and for good reason. We even found big turtles on the island (happy to see, tho). Wait for us next year!

If you have ever been in Panama, you know that there are very few professional, really high-quality fishing lodges there. This is a fact, although strange, because the fishing in Panama is amazing. And those who can offer accommodation in a private hotel on their own island with a full package of services, with a pool and a pier can be counted on one hand. It is more expensive than local fishermen, okay, yeah, but at least you know what you are paying for.
We ordered a family tour, and the guides did everything to make it interesting not only for my husband, who is a professional sport fisherman, but also for me and my son. The landscapes are fantastic. Really incredible. In addition to fishing, we also scuba dived, it was amazing! We spent two days on the water, and another day on the island. By the way, if you walk in the bush on the island without a guide, you need to be careful, after all, it is a jungle, do not forget.
I had a great time, thank you. I had a lot of fun and caught a barracuda for the first time in my life!
I can't call myself a professional fisherman, rather, fishing always been something like a "second hobby", but after the tour with Trophy Fishing I want to devote more time for this. We sailed on Montuosa, the catch was great - tuna, barracuda, amberjack! It was the first time I experienced such pleasure from fishing.
